District Administration Committed to Drug Prevention and Road Safety Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal

Una, December 30:- Deputy Commissioner Una, Jatin Lal, expressed the administration's full commitment to preventing road accidents and effectively curbing drug-related activities in the district. He directed the concerned departments to take coordinated and strict action.
He was presiding over the meetings of the District Level Committee of the National Narcotics Coordination Portal (N-CORD) and the District Road Safety Committee in the DRDA meeting hall on Tuesday. Superintendent of Police Amit Yadav, all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), and officers from the police, excise, and other departments were present at the meeting.
Special Emphasis on Drug Prevention
In the N-CORD meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized strengthening the awareness campaign against drugs. A uniform pledge against drug abuse will be administered daily during morning prayers in all schools in the district. A uniform pledge format will be provided to all educational institutions for this purpose.
Instructions were given to keep the monthly meetings of the drug prevention committees constituted in the district's 245 Gram Panchayats active. The SDMs will send the details of their proceedings to the Deputy Commissioner's office. Special monitoring and awareness activities have been increased in 10 sensitive panchayats affected by drug abuse.
Under Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu's anti-drug campaign, a major walkathon will soon be organized in Una, in which schools, drug prevention committees, social organizations, and the general public will participate. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of public participation in achieving the goal of a drug-free Himachal Pradesh.
Drug detection kits will be provided to the police soon, and all departments will ensure all possible cooperation to the police. The Education Department will share a monthly report on awareness activities in schools.
Road Safety Month in January
In the Road Safety Committee meeting, it was announced that January will be observed as Road Safety Month. Instructions were given to improve black spots, monitor no-parking/vending zones, and install informational boards.
Superintendent of Police Amit Yadav informed that due to strict enforcement, accidents on the Baruhi-Amb road have significantly reduced, almost to zero during the day. This improvement is due to barricading, interceptors, and increased police presence. The SP emphasized the need to strengthen information sharing against drug abuse, especially from schools and colleges.
