Discussion on the occasion of Babbar Akali Movement martyrdom centenary

Jalandhar:- On the occasion of the martyrdom centenary of Babbar Akali Movement (1926-2026) among the various movements that rose for the independence of our country, a special discussion was organized by the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee today on the historical aspects of this movement and its valuable relevance.
Sharing the opening words regarding this event, in his address, the General Secretary of the Committee Gurmeet said that the culmination of the events dedicated to the Babbar Akali Movement centenary, which will last the entire year of 2026, will be the Ghadri Babas' fair to be held on November 1. He said that the opening ceremony of this campaign has been held today, February 27, on the historical day on which six Babbar patriots were hanged in the Central Jail, Lahore on February 27, 1926.
On the occasion of the function, the committee president Kulwant Singh Sandhu, general secretary Gurmeet Singh, both the speakers committee member Swaran Singh Virk, committee vice president Dr. Parminder and cultural wing convener Amolak Singh were present on the stage. Committee member Suwaran Singh Virk, speaking on the topic 'Relevance of Babbar Akali Movement', shed light on many aspects of the neglected history of Babbar Akali Movement.
He said that the reason behind the formation of Babbar Akali Movement was the resentment that had arisen in the minds of the people due to the incidents of extreme violence that had taken place in many places in Punjab at that time. Due to which the jailers, todis, informers who were the pillars of the throne of the British government were brought under direct target. Suwaran Virk said that efforts were also made to limit the Babbar Akali Movement to a particular religion and to separate it from that particular religion, but the truth can never be hidden or defeated.
He said that the influence of Balochism through the likes of the Russian Revolution master Mota Singh also started to give colour to this movement. At that time, the anti-colonial movements were complementary to each other. The contribution of the Babbar Akalis was to democratize the creation of a humanistic, egalitarian society.
Vice President of the committee Dr. Parminder, speaking on the topic of 'Challenges of communal fascist attack and our role', said that the economic agendas of the imperialists, multinational companies are spreading communal fascism in the society to pave the way for the Indian people to be attacked on their knees with complete shamelessness.
The main target of the current BJP government is Muslims, Christians and Communists. The selective targeting of tribals and struggling workers of the country, living in villages in Punjab presents a grim picture of the claws of fascism spreading in the future. Situations like Italy, Germany and Palestine are continuously pushing the country.
Instead of the so-called nationalism created by the imperialist attack, the working class brought forward the concept of a true national and international phenomenon and raised true internationalism. Just as the Jews were raised as enemies, similarly the Muslim community is being targeted in our country. This trend is not only of the BJP, RSS, but through novels like Anand Math, the vassals of this system have paved the way for the fulfillment of their narrow interests.
The fascist attack here, following the orders of imperialist capital, is against the people. If today the BJP RSS is responsible, then its foundation is the mentality and objectives of the ruling class of 1947. He said that the united struggle against Khalistani terrorism in Punjab was successful in Punjab. He said that the grip of imperialist multinational companies on natural resources is being strengthened. If these natural resources are used for the people, there will be neither hunger nor communal fascist attacks. The BJP government, drunk in the blind race for profits, is strengthening the empire and bringing fascism that is its subservience.
In today's event, the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee honored the representatives of the villages and memorial committees of the Babbar Akali movement by presenting them with 'Honorary Badges' and saluting their contribution. Among those honored from the stage were Makhan Singh from the village of Shaheed Waryam Singh Dhugga, Parminder Singh from Shaheed Kartar Singh Chak Kalan, Jagroop Singh from Shaheed Santa Singh Harion Khurd (Ludhiana), Master Kulwant 'Tarak', Ashok Patara from village Patara of Babbar Mota Singh, Jaspal Jandli from the memorial of Karam Singh Daulatpur, Ranjit Singh Garhi, Sukhvir Singh, Didar Shetra from the maternal village of Babbar Karam Singh Kaulgarh, Baljinder Bains from Babbar Akali Heritage, Abbotsford (Canada), Rajinder Dhillon, Gurtej Singh, Gurdev Singh Brar, Malkit Singh Jhingar from the village of Babbar Karam Singh Jhingar, Amarjit Singh Narang from Babbar Akali Heritage, Abbotsford (Canada), Makhan Singh Acharwal, Malkit Singh Toor, Gurmail Singh Sandhu, Babbar Surain Singh Daulpur Jaswinder Singh Daulatpur was honored from Alawalpur.
