Directives Issued to Take Strict Measures Against Wheat Influx from UP
Karnal, April 21:- Deputy Commissioner Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma has issued directives to take strict measures to curb the influx of wheat arriving from Uttar Pradesh into the district's *mandis* (grain markets). He stated that if any *arhtiya* (commission agent) is found to be colluding in such instances, their license must be cancelled immediately; failing which, action will also be initiated against the *Mandi* Secretary. He further directed officials to expedite the process of lifting (transporting) wheat from the *mandis*.
The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over a meeting today at the District Secretariat auditorium with the district's SDMs (Sub-Divisional Magistrates) and officials from the wheat procurement agencies. He noted that complaints have been received from several locations regarding wheat from UP finding its way into the district's *mandis*. He emphasized that this influx must be halted at all costs. He reiterated that if any *arhtiya* is found to be involved in facilitating the entry of external wheat, their license must be revoked immediately. Furthermore, if any laxity on the part of *Mandi* Secretaries comes to light in such cases, action will be taken against them as well.
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Sharma directed the procurement agencies to accelerate the wheat lifting operations. He issued specific instructions to increase the workforce at the silos in Assandh and Gharaunda to ensure that incoming wheat—transported via vehicles—can be unloaded promptly, thereby ensuring the smooth and efficient lifting of stock from the *mandis*. The Deputy Commissioner directed all officials to work in close coordination to ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties whatsoever.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rahul Raiya, DFSC (District Food and Supplies Controller) Mukesh Kumar, District Managers from HAFED and the Warehousing Corporation, and the Secretaries of the district's Market Committees. The concerned SDMs participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
