Deputy Commissioner launches TobaccoFree Youth Campaign 30

Una, October 9 – Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal on Thursday launched the district-wide "Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0" from the auditorium of the Regional Hospital, Una. This 60-day campaign will continue until December 8.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stated that tobacco consumption is not only harmful to individual health but also weakens the collective energy and productivity of society. He stated that a united effort by all departments, institutions, panchayats, and civil society organizations is essential to combat this social evil.
He called upon all departments to work dedicatedly for the success of the campaign and stated that only with the participation of every individual can the resolution of a tobacco-free Una and a tobacco-free Himachal be realized.
The Deputy Commissioner urged panchayat representatives, voluntary organizations, and youth to cooperate in efforts to spread public awareness about the ill effects of tobacco consumption and promote a drug-free lifestyle in society. He also stressed on taking concrete and result-oriented initiatives to achieve the goals of tobacco-free educational institution certification and tobacco-free village and panchayat certification.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure effective enforcement of various tobacco prohibition acts and to carry out extensive public relations and publicity using social media platforms.
On this occasion, Chief Medical Officer Dr. S.K. Verma, Medical Superintendent Dr. Sanjay Mankotia, Principal of Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Centre Cheb Dr. Rajiv Garg, Health Medical Officer Dr. Sukhdeep Singh, District Programme Officer Dr. Ankit Chaudhary along with officers and employees of various departments were present.
