Una, July 21: Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal inaugurated a modern, air-conditioned conference hall—built at a cost of approximately ?10 lakh—at the District Sainik Welfare Office today (Tuesday). With a seating capacity of 60, this hall will prove useful for meetings, discussions, and various events involving ex-servicemen, *Veer Naris* (war widows), and retired military officers and personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the District Sainik Welfare Office is committed to providing dignified and high-quality services to soldiers, ex-servicemen, *Veer Naris*, and their dependents. The administration aims to ensure that superior facilities are accessible to them at a single location.
He mentioned that an ECHS Polyclinic is currently operational in Ghanari, while a *Sainik Bhawan* (Soldiers' Centre) will be constructed in Roda at a cost of approximately ?4.5 crore. Once completed, this facility will enable soldiers and ex-servicemen to access various services and amenities within a single complex.
The Deputy Commissioner noted that ?3.5 lakh has been spent on expanding parking facilities within the office complex. He also inspected the Legal Services Clinic located on the premises and directed the concerned officials to take immediate action regarding the repair of its roof.
Lt. Col. S.K. Kalia, Deputy Director of the District Sainik Welfare Office, stated that the office provides various services—including the resolution of pension-related issues, medical assistance, and CSD facilities—to ex-servicemen under one roof. He added that the department continuously works to inform ex-servicemen and their dependents about government schemes and resolve their grievances by organizing awareness camps in remote areas from time to time.
Retired Colonels Raghuvir Singh, Krishan Pal Chanzotra, and K.C. Sharma; Captain Shakti Chand (President of the Ex-Servicemen League); BDO ??Rahul Dhiman; and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
