Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain inspects road construction work in the district

Hoshiarpur:- Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today inspected the road construction and repair works going on in the district in detail under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. During this, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nicas Kumar and officers of the concerned departments were present with her.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of the roads being constructed by the Municipal Corporation in Bahadurpur constituency and inspected the quality of construction materials, water drainage system and road level in detail. After this, she also visited the roads of Dasuha constituency and issued necessary guidelines to the officials on the spot.
She said that the initiative of the Punjab Government is to provide better and safer road connectivity to the public. For this purpose, road development works are being carried out at the district level on a war footing with the support of PWD, Punjab Mandi Board and Municipal Corporation. He gave strict instructions to the officials that no lapse in the quality, strength and timeliness of the construction works will be tolerated.
The Deputy Commissioner said that roads are the axis of development and any compromise on their quality affects the development of the district. He clarified that all construction works should be completed as per the government standards and departmental guidelines.
Ashika Jain said that monitoring committees have been formed at the sub-divisional level which will regularly review the works. In rural areas, these committees will be chaired by the concerned SDMs, while in urban areas, this responsibility will be carried out by the Municipal Commissioner and the executive officers of the municipal councils.
These committees have been instructed to submit progress reports regularly to the Deputy Commissioner's office so that transparency and accountability can be ensured.
