Hoshiarpur: Preet Kohli, Assistant Director of the Department of Youth Services, Hoshiarpur, instructed all program officers of the district's Red Ribbon Clubs to ensure that every institution organizes at least one blood donation camp during the 2026-27 session. He was addressing an advocacy meeting for Red Ribbon Clubs held today at the local Rayat Bahra Professional University. During the event, grants received from the headquarters were distributed to the program officers and representatives of the Red Ribbon Clubs, and the clubs were briefed on the activities planned for the 2025-26 session.
The Assistant Director reviewed the activities conducted during the 2025-26 session and provided information regarding the activities to be undertaken by the Red Ribbon Clubs in the 2026-27 session. The Red Ribbon Nodal Officer for Hoshiarpur district was also present at the event.
Assistant Director Preet Kohli stated that these clubs have established direct contact with the district's colleges, nursing colleges, and polytechnics, enabling the department's other activities to be conducted effectively within these institutions. He announced that a district-level 5-kilometer mini-marathon would be organized on August 14, 2026; students from all colleges would participate, and cash prizes would be awarded to them.
With the support of his team, the Assistant Director raised awareness among the attending nodal officers about HIV and the adverse effects of drug abuse. He urged all colleges to encourage their students to organize seminars on these topics.
Preet Kohli also engaged in discussions with the students regarding blood, eye, and organ donation. Through his brief yet impactful speech, he connected with the students and ignited a spirit of humanity within them. On this occasion, Dr. Kuldeep Kaur Walia, DSW at Rayat Bahra Professional University, Hoshiarpur, honored all the guests. Nodal officers from various colleges across the district, along with other dignitaries, were also present at the event.
