Demand for Sewerage Cleaning Raised Again at Sarv Samaj Sabha Meeting
Ratia, July 16: A special monthly meeting of the Sarv Samaj Sabha, Ratia, was held at Baba Namdev Dharamshala under the chairmanship of Satpal Jindal. The meeting began with the observance of a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the late Amar Goyal, a social worker from Ratia, and Surajmal Goenka, an industrialist from Haryana.
Members present at the meeting unanimously demanded that the warehouse located in the heart of the town be relocated to the outskirts. They suggested that a modern commercial complex could be developed on the land currently occupied by the warehouse (spanning approximately four acres); establishing various banks and other government and private institutions there would give fresh momentum to the town's development. It was also decided to meet the Chief Minister of Haryana to present this demand.
Given the monsoon season, the issue of the town's sewerage system and rainwater drainage was also highlighted prominently. Members urged the administration to undertake a comprehensive cleaning of the sewerage system immediately to ensure proper drainage of rainwater and prevent waterlogging and the associated public inconvenience.
Additionally, a demand was raised regarding the standardization of house levels along streets during the construction of new colonies and buildings. Members insisted that the Municipal Council should ensure, while granting building permits, that houses in any given street are not built at uneven heights, thereby preventing future problems related to drainage and traffic movement.
Prominent attendees at the meeting included Sabha President Satpal Jindal, General Secretary Dr. Naib Singh Mander, Joint Secretary Randhir Mauliya, Treasurer Sher Singh Bhullar, Press Secretary Happy Singh Sethi, Senior Vice President Captain Jagjit Singh, Vice Presidents Gurpreet Singh Nain and Rajpal Grover, as well as Surendra Kumar Garg, Jagjit Singh Dhillon, Dharmpal Sharma, Rajinder Monga, Binna Jindal, and many other members of the Sarv Samaj Sabha.
