Demand for salary hike and release of protesting workers in Noida
Nawanshahr:- Punjab's Workers' Coordination Committee has demanded an increase in the salary of the workers working in the hosiery complex of Noida Phase 2 in Uttar Pradesh and the immediate release of the arrested workers. Making this demand, Iftu Punjab President Kulwinder Singh Waraich, Central Committee Member Juginderpal Gurdaspur, State Press Secretary Jasbir Deep, State President of Rural Mazdoor Union Tarsem Peter, State Press Secretary Kashmir Singh Ghuggshore, State President of Democratic Workers Front Jarmanjit Singh, Hardeep Todarpur, President of Zamin Pratibha Sangharsh Committee Mukesh Malaud and Bikkar Singh Hathoa have said in a joint press statement that more than 2,000 workers working in M/s Richa Garments Noida are paid a monthly salary of ?11,283, which is very low considering the current inflation. This is even less than the minimum wage in Uttar Pradesh and Noida. Hundreds of workers of Global, Paramint and Madrasan came out to protest. The Uttar Pradesh government, showing no sympathy for the workers, deployed a heavy police force, due to which the entire area was turned into a police cantonment. Seven workers and seven union activists were arrested.
The leaders have strongly condemned this. They further said that in the current situation, the prices of cooking gas and other daily necessities have skyrocketed. A monthly salary of Rs 11,283 is not enough to live on. The rent and food prices in Noida are at par with Delhi.
Therefore, the wages of the workers working in Noida should also be at par with Delhi. They have demanded an immediate increase in the wages of the workers and the immediate release of all the arrested comrades and the immediate removal of the police camp from the Noida hosiery complex.
