New Delhi:- According to an order issued by the Delhi government, the Delhi Police will not take any legal or harsh action against individuals who participated in the protest led by the 'Cockroach Janata Party' in the capital. However, individuals with a criminal record or background will not benefit from this relief, and action against them will continue in accordance with the law.
The order issued by the Home Department states that if any arrests or detentions have already been made in these cases, the cases of the arrested individuals will be reviewed, and the process for their early release will be completed.
The order clarifies that the Delhi government does not intend to take any further harsh action against those involved in these protests, and these cases will be treated as closed without any further action in the future. Instructions have also been issued that no police officer within Delhi shall initiate new legal or punitive action against the participants of these protests.
However, the order also clarifies that this relief does not apply to individuals with a criminal record. In such cases, action will continue in accordance with recent Supreme Court directives.
It is noteworthy that the Delhi Police had registered 13 FIRs regarding the violence that occurred during the CJP's 'Chalo Sansad' (March to Parliament) protest on July 20.
