Delhi High Court slams IndiGo seeks affidavit on refund and compensation
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed IndiGo Airlines to file an affidavit. The affidavit will be about the details of refund and compensation given to thousands of passengers who were inconvenienced due to flight cancellations in December last year.
The court has specifically asked what the company will do in case a passenger is not able to use the compensation voucher of Rs 10,000 within 12 months. The airline's lawyer has assured that the refund process has been started and a special website has also been created for the affected people.
It is worth noting that between December 3 and 5, about 2,507 IndiGo flights were cancelled and 1,852 were delayed, causing inconvenience to more than 3 lakh passengers across the country. The government told the court that a fine of Rs 22 crore has been imposed on the airline for this negligence and a senior official has also been ordered to be dismissed. The court has now fixed the next hearing of the matter for February 25.
