Delegation of village Benra meets DC Sangrur to resolve burning issues
Dhuri - In continuation of the hunger strike being observed by the voters of village Benra for the past month and a quarter, a large delegation under the leadership of Satguru Ravidas and Shaheed Baba Jeevan Singh Gursangat Village Benra met the Deputy Commissioner of Sangrur regarding their pressing demands.
The delegation demanded the release of a grant to construct a new building for the Government Primary School in an open space, replacing the current building occupying 7 marlas which has been declared unsafe. Additionally, they sought grants for a park and Ambedkar Bhawan.
The delegation also raised the issue of the foundation stone laid on April 2 in Shamlat land (Khasra No. 527) in the presence of ADC Sangrur Mr. Sukhchain Singh, BDPO Dhuri, DSP Dhuri, and SHO Police Station Sadar Dhuri, demanding that the filling of the foundation should begin from the center on priority.
They pointed out that some private encroachments still exist within the foundation area, which should be removed immediately to start the construction work. The Deputy Commissioner of Sangrur assured the delegation that the grants are being arranged and development work will commence soon.
