DC Rahul Narwal issues directives to accelerate sewerage and drain cleaning operations
Hansi: A crucial review meeting regarding the city's sewerage system, drainage, and sanitation was held at the District Secretariat complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rahul Narwal. Officials from the Municipal Council, the Public Health Engineering Department, and other relevant departments participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed review of the current status of sewerage lines, drains, and the drainage system. He issued clear instructions to the concerned officials to accelerate cleaning operations by launching a special drive over the next three days, ensuring that citizens do not face issues like waterlogging during the rainy season.
Directing officials from the Municipal Council and the Public Health Department, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for special attention to city sanitation, the cleaning of sewerage lines, and the regular cleaning of drains. He stressed the importance of ensuring there are no obstructions to rainwater drainage and directed that all potentially vulnerable areas be cleaned on a priority basis.
He warned officials that positive results of the work must be visible on the ground within three days. Strict administrative action would be taken against any official or employee found guilty of negligence, laxity, or dereliction of duty during this period.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials from all relevant departments to visit the field starting today to monitor the work and ensure the cleaning drive is conducted effectively. He added that if additional resources, machinery, or other requirements were needed for sewerage and drain cleaning, the district administration would grant immediate approval to prevent any hindrance to the work.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner specifically directed Public Health Department officials to prioritize and promptly begin the work of laying a new sewerage line in the street located opposite Amti Lake.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration is committed to improving civic amenities and that all departments must work in coordination to tackle the problem of waterlogging during the monsoon season. He instructed officials to maintain special vigilance at all major locations in the city prone to waterlogging and to make necessary arrangements to ensure prompt action in the event of any emergency.
**Municipal Council accelerates the pace of drain and nullah cleaning operations in compliance with the DC's directives:**
Acting on the Deputy Commissioner's instructions, the Municipal Council has further accelerated the special cleaning drive for the city's major drains and sewerage lines. The objective of this campaign is to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season and ensure the smooth functioning of the city's drainage system.
The Municipal Council undertook cleaning operations for various drains along routes including Char Qutub to Sisay Bridge, Barsi Gate to Jind Chowk, Tikona Park Chowk to Umra Gate, Umra Gate to Barsi Gate, Model Town, Ambedkar Chowk, the Green Belt area, and from Sisay Bridge to Kayamsar Lake. Special teams of sanitation workers were deployed for this task and are carrying out the cleaning work under continuous supervision.
Deputy Commissioner Rahul Narwal has directed officials from the concerned departments to further intensify cleaning efforts in the coming days to ensure there are no obstructions to the drainage of rainwater. Additional Deputy Commissioner and DMC Lakshit Sarin, Municipal Council Executive Officer (EO) Rajendra Soni, and Public Health Department Executive Engineer Sanjeev Tyagi were also present at the meeting.
