Hoshiarpur: Former MP Avinash Rai Khanna has requested the Directorate (NPCDCS) and the Department of Health and Family Welfare to establish one of the day care cancer centers being set up in Punjab under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NPCDCS) in Hoshiarpur.
Jyoti Kumar Jolly from Khanna's office stated that in a letter written by Mr. Khanna to the Director of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, he informed that Hoshiarpur is a historical district and, in addition to being the administrative headquarters of Hoshiarpur district, it is also considered a hub for healthcare facilities.
Cancer patients from Hoshiarpur have to travel to distant cities for treatment. Khanna said that if one of the day care cancer centers being established in Punjab is set up in Hoshiarpur, it would greatly benefit cancer patients from Hoshiarpur district and the surrounding areas.
