Crossborder module busted 4 arrested with 5 kg heroin

Amritsar:- Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar has busted a drug smuggling module running across the border and arrested four persons with 5 kg heroin. The arrested accused have been identified as Sukhchain Singh alias Mani, Navdeep Singh, Sukhpal Singh and Akashdeep Singh, all residents of Daoke border village of Amritsar. Apart from heroin, the police have also seized two motorcycles from their possession, which were being used for drug supply.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that these smugglers were in direct contact with Pakistani smugglers and used to order drug consignments from across the border through drones and supply them further. CI Amritsar had received confidential information that accused Sukhchain Singh along with his associates was planning to deliver a large consignment from Pakistan to another party near village Kala Ghanupur in Amritsar.
Police caught them red-handed by setting up a blockade on the bypass road. In this regard, a case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the State Special Operation Cell and further investigation has been started.
