Crossborder drug smuggling case Two arrested with 5 kg heroin
Amritsar:- The Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing in Amritsar has arrested two people in a cross-border drug smuggling case and recovered 5 kg heroin. This was disclosed by DGP Gaurav Yadav.
He said that after arresting these two persons, the police team recovered 5 kg heroin from the possession of the accused, which has dealt a major blow to the drug smuggling network operating in the area.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that they were in touch with a Pakistan-based smuggler and a foreign handler, who allegedly planned to send consignments across the border. Officials suspect that this module is part of a big international drug syndicate.
An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar and further investigation is underway to unearth the entire network. The DGP said that further investigation is underway to find out the other links of the accused. More arrests are also likely in this regard.
