Countrys first interstate seminar on the issue of counterfeit drugs and NDPS
Chandigarh, November 22:- Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Haryana organized the country's first interstate seminar on the issue of counterfeit drugs and NDPS in Chandigarh. Senior officers of Drug Controllers, CID and Police Departments of seven states participated in this historic event.
The aim of this seminar was to increase coordination among neighboring states to prevent counterfeit/fake drugs and prevent misuse of NDPS drugs as drugs. Under this, emphasis was laid on exchange of information between departments of different states and providing necessary training to the enforcement authorities.
The program was inaugurated by Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Haryana. On this occasion, FDA Haryana Commissioner Dr. Manoj Kumar, State Drug Controller Mr. Lalit Kumar Goel along with Head Office and Field Officers were present.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, while welcoming the representatives from all the states, highlighted the achievements of FDA Haryana in NDPS matters. He stressed on the importance of coordination among the bordering states.
In his address, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal congratulated FDA Haryana for organizing the Interstate Knowledge Sharing Seminar. He said that the issue of counterfeit drugs and NDPS smuggling is not a local issue but a common challenge among the states for which data sharing and transparent coordination is very important. He appealed to all the stakeholders to work with honesty and responsibility. Former DGP and former Joint Director of CBI Dr. Keshav Kumar, retired Joint Commissioner and State Drug Controller of Maharashtra OS Sadhwani and State Drug Controller of Haryana Mr. Lalit Goel shared important information in the seminar.
Dr. Keshav Kumar gave information about the national database being created by Bharat Pharmaceutical Alliance and highlighted the role of forensic science.
Mr. OS Sadhwani expressed serious concern over the recent cases of children dying due to spurious/ASQ drugs and stressed on ensuring the quality of drugs.
Mr. Manish Kapoor, State Drugs Controller of Himachal Pradesh, organized a panel discussion. Apart from this, Drugs Controllers of Punjab, Himachal and other states - Mr. Sanjeev Garg, Mr. Deepak Sharma and Mr. Sushant Sharma were also present. More than 70 officials from seven states participated in it. On this occasion, Assistant State Drugs Controller of FDA Haryana, Mr. Karan Singh Godara and Mr. Parjinder Singh were also present.
