Consuming drugs is an invitation to diseases Chaman Singh Project Director

Nawanshahr:- An anti-drug awareness camp was organized under the "Drug-Free India Campaign" (Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan) by the Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts at Martyr Soldier Baljinder Singh Library, Village Gullpur (Balachaur). This camp was presided over by Mr. Kashmir Singh (Sarpanch).
On this occasion, Mr. Chaman Singh, Project Director, explained to the children that the habit of drug addiction is very dreadful. Sometimes even young children start using drugs out of ignorance. He mentioned that often young school-going children start using tobacco, which causes diseases like cancer. Along with this, children gradually sink from minor intoxicants into the quagmire of major drugs like heroin. With the use of drugs, a person becomes mentally and physically ill, and their intellectual development stops. Drug use leads to skin diseases, liver disease, Hepatitis C (Kala Peelia), HIV/AIDS, etc., resulting in the death of youth at a very young age.
He appealed to the villagers to take care of their children themselves so that they do not fall into bad company and become addicted to drugs. He said that parents should give maximum time to their children and obtain information regarding their children from schools/colleges.
On this occasion, Mrs. Parvesh Kumar (PR Educator) shared information about the center's activities and the free treatment of patients, stating that any drug addict can get free treatment by staying admitted to the center for one month of their own free will. Since addiction cannot be quit while staying at home, it is necessary to reach out to psychiatrists and drug de-addiction centers to quit drugs.
On this occasion, Mr. Kashmir Singh (Sarpanch) thanked the Red Cross team and the villagers.
Present on this occasion were Mrs. Amarjit (Teacher), Sneh Lata (Teacher), Mr. Chaman Lal (MGNREGA Mate), Jasvir Kaur (MGNREGA Mate), Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur (Panch), Mrs. Jasvir Kaur (Panch), Mrs. Mohinder Kaur (Panch), Sunita, Yudhveer Singh, Gurinder Singh, villagers, and students.
