Complex Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Performed at Livasa Hospital Khanna
Khanna:- A complex total laparoscopic hysterectomy was successfully performed on a patient suffering from a uterus equivalent to the size of a 22-24 week gestation at Livasa Hospital Khanna. Dr. Manju Verma, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Livasa Hospital Khanna, said that the patient was suffering from heavy bleeding during menstruation. , Constant lower abdominal pain was adversely affecting her quality of life.
Dr. Verma said that the case was very challenging for surgery due to the size of the uterus and the complications involved. She said that the entire procedure was done laparoscopically, which eliminated the need for a large incision in the abdomen.
Dr. Verma added, “Large uterine fibroids can significantly affect a woman’s health and daily life. Earlier, patients with such a large uterus often required open surgery, which required a long recovery time. Due to advances in gynecological surgery, many complex cases can now be treated laparoscopically.
This results in less pain, faster recovery, less bleeding, and allows patients to return to their normal activities sooner.”
