Complete ban on miningrelated activities from 7 PM to 6 AM

Una, July 15: Una District Magistrate Jatin Lal has amended a previously issued order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, revising the permitted timeframe for the transportation of mining material in Una district. This order comes into effect immediately and will remain in force until further orders.
This amendment has been made after considering the recommendations of the Superintendent of Police, Una, and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil), Haroli. According to the order, the transportation of mining material via tippers and trucks will now be permitted daily between 8 AM and 10 PM. However, all mining-related activities—including excavation and loading—may only be conducted between 6 AM and 7 PM. A complete ban will remain in effect on all mining-related activities from 7 PM to 6 AM.
As per the order, all vehicles transporting mining material must strictly adhere to the Motor Vehicles Act, the rules framed thereunder, and applicable traffic regulations. Vehicles must comply with prescribed speed limits and traffic-related instructions issued by the Police Department and other competent authorities.
To prevent dust pollution, spillage of material, and environmental damage, it is mandatory to transport mining material in a fully covered manner. Every vehicle must possess a valid permit, transit pass, and all other statutory documents required under mining and environmental laws.
Mining leaseholders, contractors, transporters, and vehicle owners must ensure all necessary safety measures, including adequate lighting, reflectors, warning signs, and vehicle roadworthiness. Furthermore, they must ensure that the transportation of mining material does not obstruct public roads or cause any inconvenience to the general public.
The order states that strict compliance with instructions issued from time to time by the District Administration, Police Department, Mining Department, Pollution Control Board, or other competent authorities is mandatory for all concerned parties. In the event of a violation of stipulated conditions or the law, or if there is an adverse impact on public safety, public order, or the environment, the concerned permission may be revoked without prior notice. Additionally, necessary legal action will be taken under relevant laws.
