Complete ban on manufacture sale and use of China strings in the district
Nawanshahr- District Magistrate Ankurjit Singh, exercising the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Act, 2023, has completely banned the manufacture, sale, storage, purchase, supply, import from outside and use of nylon/synthetic/plastic strings (China strings/Majha) for flying kites/dolls within the police station areas of the district in urban and rural areas.
According to the orders issued, the nylon/synthetic/plastic China strings used for flying kites/dolls are very strong, insoluble, unbreakable and therefore extremely dangerous for the fingers of kite flyers and cause harm to the necks and ears of cyclists, scooters and motorcyclists by getting caught on their necks and ears.
Apart from this, there are many incidents of birds getting caught in this rope and dying. In view of these facts, a complete ban is imposed on the use of this rope etc. The District Police, Executive Officers of Municipal Councils in urban areas and all Block Development and Panchayat Officers in rural areas will implement these orders. This order will remain in force till April 23, 2026.
