Complete ban on carrying weapons in the district in view of elections
Hoshiarpur:- In view of the upcoming Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Punjab, and keeping in mind the maintenance of law, order and peace within the limits of District Hoshiarpur, District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, exercising the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, has issued orders that till 19 December 2025, there shall be a complete ban on carrying any kind of licensed firearm/weapon, explosive material, kirpan, kirch, spear, toka, knife or any other article that can be used to disturb peace and tranquillity within the territorial limits of District Hoshiarpur.
She clarified that these orders shall not apply to personnel of the Army, Para-Military Forces, Police employees, bank security guards, factory security guards, petrol pump owners, money exchange owners, owners of jewellery shops, sportspersons (shooters who are members of the National Rifle Association and are participating in any event), persons who have been granted Z-category security, or persons to whom personal security has been provided by any Hon’ble Court.
