Competitions will be organized to make children helpers of victims

Patiala:- On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas and Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's death anniversary, on July 26 at 10 am, inter-school competitions related to disaster management, first aid, fire safety, safe use of gas cylinders and rescue and transport of victims will be organized by Red Cross Bhai Ghanhaiya Ji Ambulance Brigade Assistant Commissioner and President's Awardee Shri Harinder Singh Karir and First Aid, Safety, Health Awareness Mission Chief Trainer Shri Kaka Ram Verma in collaboration with Principal Mrs. Sarla Bhatnagar at Veer Haqiqat Rai Model Senior Secondary School, Patiala. The main objective of these competitions is to prepare children as helpers of victims in emergency situations.
During this, teams from different schools will perform performances based on emergency situations. These include incidents like a student getting injured in school and bleeding from the forehead and breaking his arm, a student having a heart attack while running in the playground, a mother getting a fever of 105 degrees at home due to strong sunlight and heat, an employee fainting from smoke due to a gas pipe catching fire in the school canteen and a neighbor having a sudden heart attack and stopping breathing. The students will demonstrate the rescue operations to be done to reduce the loss of life and property in these situations.
In this regard, Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, while training the students under the patronage of Principal Smt. Manju at Green Well High School, said that special training is being given to the students to save the lives of the victims during emergency situations like increasing natural disasters, wars, fire incidents, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, fainting, bleeding and shock.
He said that the purpose of this training is to enable the children to take timely and appropriate steps in their homes, families, schools and other institutions during emergencies to minimize the loss of life and property.
24 students who performed excellently in the competitions will be honored with prizes and certificates.
