Cold wave yellow alert in eight districts

Chandigarh:- The intensity of cold wave has increased in Punjab and Chandigarh, due to icy winds coming from the hilly areas. Considering the situation, the Meteorological Department has today issued a ‘yellow alert’ of cold wave for eight districts of the state – Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Faridkot, Jalandhar, Moga, Mansa and Ferozepur – and has advised people to be careful.
The lowest temperature in the state was recorded at 2.8°C in Adampur, while the night temperature has dropped below 10°C in most districts. There may be light clouds in the coming days, i.e. on December 11, but the weather on the highway is expected to remain generally clear till December 12.
Along with the cold, pollution also remains a concern, with Chandigarh's Air Quality Index recorded at 212 (poor category).
