Civil Surgeons attack on female foeticide the culprits will not be spared

Karnal, February 17:- Civil Surgeon Poonam Chaudhary stated that female foeticide is a serious crime and no one involved in this crime should be spared. Strict compliance with the PNDT Act should be ensured in the district, and regular inspections should be conducted to ensure strict legal action against violators.
Civil Surgeon Poonam Chaudhary was giving instructions to officials at a meeting of the District-Level Advisory Committee constituted under the Pre-natal Sex Determination Act (PNDT Act) at the Civil Surgeon's office on Tuesday. Various issues were discussed in the meeting.
She directed that concrete steps be taken to improve the sex ratio and that raids on ultrasound centers be increased and their records be checked through surprise inspections. She stated that both conducting and conducting sex determination tests are crimes under the law, and that strict vigilance should be maintained and strict action should be taken against such individuals.
In the meeting, Civil Surgeon Dr Poonam Chaudhary informed that there is a provision of imprisonment up to 3 years and fine up to Rs 10,000 for violating the provisions and rules of the PCPNDT Act and there is also a provision in the Act to give a reward of up to Rs 1 lakh to the person giving secret information against those violating the rules.
DDA Pankaj Saini, Dr Sheenu Chaudhary, Dr Anju, Dr Pankaj, WCD PO Nising Santosh and other officials were present in the meeting.
