Citizen Solidarity March to be Held on Disaster Awareness Day

Una, March 25 – Marking the anniversary of the 1905 earthquake in Kangra, a Citizen Solidarity March will be organized on April 4th on the occasion of Disaster Awareness Day. Sharing this information, Jatin Lal—Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority and Deputy Commissioner of Una—stated that this march will proceed from the New Bus Stand, Una, to the DC Office Chowk.
He further informed that evacuation drills will also be conducted in all government offices, institutions, and establishments on this day. Additionally, throughout the month of April, people will be sensitized regarding earthquake-resistant construction practices and disaster management preparedness through Gram Sabha meetings held at the Panchayat level.
He noted that Disaster Awareness Day is observed as a state-wide campaign, under which various programs will be organized at the state, district, and community levels. These activities include earthquake disaster simulation drills, as well as awareness sessions and emergency response training in schools and other educational institutions.
The objective of all these programs is to sensitize the community regarding disaster management preparedness and to promote disaster risk reduction at the local level.
