Chandigarh Hosts Successful 6th State Gatka Championship 2026

Chandigarh, May 3, 2026:- The Chandigarh Gatka Association (Regd.) successfully organized the 6th Chandigarh State Gatka Championship 2026 (Men & Women) in collaboration with Panjab University, Chandigarh. The championship was held on 2nd and 3rd May 2026 at the university premises, witnessing enthusiastic participation from across the region.
A total of 210 participants competed in the championship across Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories. The event featured a diverse range of competitions, including Individual and Team Gatka Fights as well as Individual and Team Weapon Demonstrations, showcasing the rich heritage and discipline of the Sikh martial art, Gatka.
The smooth conduct of the championship was ensured by a dedicated team of officials, including Ramanpreet Singh, Charanjeet Kaur, Inderjeet Singh, Simranjeet Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Charanjeet Kaur, Ravinder Pal Singh, Sandeep Pal Singh, Husanpreet Kaur, Shehbaaz Singh, and Karnail Singh, whose collective efforts contributed significantly to the success of the event.
Dr. Rakesh Malik addressed the participants and motivated them with his encouraging words, assuring continued support and necessary assistance for the development of Gatka players.
S. Gurjot Singh Sawhney, Chairman of Chandigarh Gatka Association, extended his blessings to the players and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the organizing team and officials.
S. Sukhjinder Singh Yogi, Vice President of the Association, assured players of organizing larger and more impactful Gatka events in the coming months to further promote the sport.
Simranjit Singh, General Secretary of Chandigarh Gatka Association, informed that the championship witnessed participation from 210 players, making it a grand success. He also expressed gratitude to all officials, organizers and chief guests for their valuable support in promoting Gatka.
The championship concluded on a high note, reinforcing the commitment towards preserving and promoting the traditional Sikh martial art of Gatka among the youth.
