Cervical Cancer Vaccination Drive to Begin on March 29 CMO

Una, March 17 (Paigam-E-Jagat): Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Una, Sanjeev Kumar Verma, has announced that the Department of Health and Family Welfare is conducting an HPV vaccination drive in Una district to prevent cervical cancer (cancer of the mouth of the uterus). Under this campaign, HPV vaccinations will be administered at 27 government health institutions across the district on Sundays—specifically March 29, April 5, and April 12.
This vaccine is being administered by the Government of India to girls aged 14 to 15 years as a preventive measure against this cancer. A single dose of this vaccine is sufficient to provide long-term immunity. The vaccine offers protection against the cancer-causing virus and is both highly effective and completely safe.
He has appealed to the residents of the district not to harbor any misconceptions regarding this vaccination and to come forward enthusiastically to help secure the future of their daughters. He emphasized that this vaccine does not cause infertility or any long-term side effects; on the contrary, it is the HPV viral infection itself that can lead to reduced fertility and complications in conceiving.
This vaccine plays a vital role in safeguarding fertility by preventing the damage to reproductive organs that can be caused by cancer.
