Ceremony Organized at PGI Chandigarh in Observance of the Official Language Hindi
Chandigarh, March 17, 2026: A ceremony was organized today at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Chandigarh, with the objective of promoting and propagating the Official Language, Hindi. On this occasion, officials and employees were apprised of the Government of India's Official Language Policy and its implementation within the Institute. Presiding over the ceremony, the Institute's Dean (Research), Prof. Sanjay Jain, stated that India stands as a prime example of "Unity in Diversity," encompassing a multitude of languages and dialects. Hindi plays a pivotal role in weaving the people of the country together into a single cohesive thread. He emphasized that working in one's mother tongue facilitates national development; furthermore, for employees working in the healthcare sector, communicating in Hindi is not merely a duty but also a simple and effective means of alleviating patient anxiety. He further added that compliance with the Official Language Acts and Rules is a collective responsibility. Medical Superintendent Dr. Vipin Kaushal noted that the majority of the staff possesses a working knowledge of Hindi and has been provided with dictionaries, technical terminologies, and office stationery to facilitate their work in the language. All computers within the Institute are equipped with Hindi typing capabilities, which can be downloaded and utilized directly from the Institute's website. He appealed to all doctors, officials, employees, and students to maximize their use of Hindi in their daily professional duties and to contribute actively toward the effective implementation of the Official Language Policy. On this occasion, a Hindi book titled "Home Care Package for Caregivers of Children Suffering from Nephrotic Syndrome," authored by Nursing Officer Mr. Aneeshlal S.V., was formally released. Additionally, under the incentive schemes implemented for the promotion of the Official Language within the Institute, Dr. Rajni Sharma, Mr. Narendra Prarthi, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Mr. Rajesh Saxena, and Mr. Abhijit Singh were felicitated, and prizes were awarded to the winners of the competitions held during the 'Hindi Fortnight' (Hindi Pakhwada). The Nodal Officer (Official Language), Prof. Sanjay Bhadada, affirmed that all officials and employees would utilize the Official Language—Hindi—in the discharge of their duties and would also encourage their colleagues to do the same. He emphasized that working in Hindi would enhance the institute's efficiency and also boost national pride. This ceremony served as a successful endeavor to highlight the importance of Hindi within the institute and to promote its usage in daily operations.
