Case registered against husband and mother-in-law in case of death of married
SAS Nagar, May 14 - In the case of the death of Navneet Kaur, a resident of local phase 1 at her in-laws house in Kurali, the Kurali police have filed a case against the deceased's husband Kuljinder and mother-in-law Amarjit Kaur on the complaint of Navneet Kaur's father Ranjit Singh. A case has been registered under section 306, 34 of PC.
Mr. Ranjit Singh has said in the police complaint that his daughter Navneet Kaur (age 26 years) was married in November 2022 with Kuljinder Singh resident of Ward No. 7 MD Colony Chandigarh Road Kurali with Sikh rituals. Kuljinder had gone to Australia since 2016 who had assured them at the time of marriage that he would take the girl Navneet abroad to Australia after some time of marriage but Kuljinder did not conduct a court marriage with her despite Navneet's repeated requests.
He told the police that after marriage, Navneet became a lecturer at Saraswati Nursing College Gharun. Meanwhile, Kuljinder came to India after marriage (in 2023). And he stopped Navneet from running Facebook, Instagram app and also asked Navneet not to tell anyone about his marriage in college. He has said in the complaint that his son-in-law and his mother used to ask Navneet to quit his job And Navneet had told them that she would quit the job when her work abroad became Australia. They have said that when Navneet refused to quit her job, her husband and mother-in-law had a fight with her. When Navneet told them about this, they went to Kurali with their son and Navneet asked them to take him with them, but his mother-in-law stopped Navneet saying that she would not force him to quit his job.
He said that his son-in-law went back after completing his leave and after some time Navneet's mother-in-law Amarjit Kaur started harassing Navneet to quit his job again. When Navneet told Kuljinder about this over the phone, he also badmouthed him. They alleged that for the past several days Navneet's mother-in-law Amarjeet Kaur used to torture her without saying anything and Kuljinder also badmouthed her over the phone.
They have said in the complaint that Navneet's mother-in-law received a call at 7 am yesterday, who said that Navneet was sleeping in her room and was not opening the door when she knocked. Then Navneet's mother-in-law got a call again saying that she had hanged herself along with the fan. They have written that when Navneet's brother Diljit Singh and mother Paramjit Kaur reached Kurali, Navneet was lying on the bed and had died. The police is investigating the matter.
