Bulldozers Roll in Karnal Major Crackdown on Illegal Colonies
Karnal, March 18: On Wednesday, a team from the District Town Planner's office, supported by police forces, carried out demolition operations against two illegal colonies and one illegal structure. The demolition drive was conducted under the supervision of a Duty Magistrate and the police.
District Town Planner Gunjan stated that the first illegal colony was situated on Kachhwa/Karnal Road, covering an area of approximately 1.5 acres. Within this colony, a property dealer's office and all internal roads were demolished. Similarly, the second illegal colony was located in the village of Saidpura, spanning an area of approximately 3.5 acres. In this colony, 12 DPC (Damp Proof Course) structures and all roads were demolished. Additionally, an illegal warehouse located in the village of Pundrak—covering an area of approximately 900 square meters—was also demolished by the department.
The District Town Planner emphasized that the department is continuously conducting demolition drives against illegal colonies and unauthorized constructions. Furthermore, FIRs are being consistently registered against those involved in establishing illegal colonies or undertaking unauthorized construction. The department also issues periodic public notices warning that the strictest possible action will be taken against anyone who promotes or facilitates illegal colonies and unauthorized construction. Every necessary measure is being taken to curb illegal colonies and unauthorized structures, and absolutely no leniency will be shown regarding such violations.
She once again appealed to the general public not to fall into the trap set by property dealers; instead, they should purchase plots and build their homes only within legally approved colonies in the city. She also appealed to property dealers to obtain the necessary licenses from the Department of Town and Country Planning, Haryana (Chandigarh), before developing any colonies, ensuring that such developments ultimately benefit the general public.
