Build a Career in Journalism Mass Communication and Digital Media Dr Dharampal

Karnal, June 25: Dr. Dharampal, Regional Director of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)—under the Ministry of Education, Government of India—stated that the fields of journalism and mass communication are undergoing rapid transformation at both Indian and global levels. Journalism and mass communication are two sides of the same coin. Emerging technologies have created new platforms for journalism; therefore, it is essential to understand these fields in the context of the current landscape.
In today's era, journalism and mass communication hold a significant place in employment-oriented education. After obtaining a degree in journalism, mass communication, or digital media, individuals can build careers in both government and private sectors; furthermore, they can even launch their own media platforms.
He noted that IGNOU has designed its courses in mass communication, journalism, and digital media to strike a balance between theoretical knowledge and employability. Students can pursue careers as journalists, content writers, or professionals in the film industry, public relations, political analysis, visual editing, advertising, and electronic media. Currently, IGNOU offers various programs, including Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (MAJMC), MA in Journalism and Digital Media (MAJDM), MA in Journalism and Electronic Media (MAJEM), MA in Development Journalism (MADJ), Post Graduate Diploma in Development Communication (PGDDC), Post Graduate Diploma in Electronic Media (PGDEME), Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGJMC), and Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Media (PGDIDM).
