BSP extends full support to sanitation workers strike
Hoshiarpur- The 'Punjab Sambhalo Campaign' launched by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) gained further momentum today as BSP Punjab President Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri joined the ongoing protest of sanitation workers in Hoshiarpur. Declaring their demands as legitimate, he announced full support and termed the contractual system as the primary cause of employee exploitation.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Karimpuri launched a scathing attack on the Congress, Akali Dal, BJP, and Aam Aadmi Party. He stated that these political parties nurture the contractual system, which is directly responsible for the economic and mental exploitation of workers. He asserted that BSP stands firmly against this system of loot and is fighting shoulder to shoulder for workers' rights.
Karimpuri warned the current government to regularize all temporary employees without delay. He also demanded the immediate implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) as per election promises and the release of the pending 18% Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees and pensioners. Emphasizing the importance of the 'Punjab Sambhalo Campaign,' he announced that if the people of Punjab bring BSP to power, the government will immediately regularize 100% of temporary staff and fulfill all their valid demands. He concluded by saying that the campaign aims to free the state from "exploitative parties" and establish pro-people governance.
Zone Coordinator Chaudhary Gurnam Singh and State General Secretary Bhagwan Das Sidhu also addressed the occasion. Other prominent leaders present included Maninder Singh Sherpuri, Sukhdev Bitta, Advocate Dharminder Dadra, Somnath Bains, Madan Singh Bains, and Kulwant Singh Saini (President, Safai Sewak Union), among a large number of employees and retirees.
