Breast Milk is Like Nectar for the Child Dr Harsh
Ferozepur, August 6: Under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra and the leadership of Dr. Harsh (Acting SMO, Mamdot), a seminar regarding the importance of breast milk was organized at the BSF Battalion in Mamdot. Speaking on the occasion, Medical Officer Dr. Savkrit stated that breast milk not only aids in the child's optimal brain development and protects against dangerous illnesses but also helps prevent conditions such as cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
Dr. Harsh, the Acting Senior Medical Officer, remarked that breast milk is akin to nectar for a child, providing the strength to fight diseases. He noted that scientific evidence confirms that breastfeeding helps protect both mother and child from dreaded diseases like cancer and significantly reduces the risk of obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure in children.
He emphasized that newborns should be fed exclusively on breast milk for the first six months. Amarjit (BEE) also spoke on the occasion, advising the new generation to avoid junk food and instead consume home-cooked meals prepared by mothers. Breastfeeding enhances a child's mental and physical strength; it not only provides vitality but also boosts the child's immunity against diseases.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ankush Rawal, Medical Officer of the BSF 99th Battalion, said that every child is the "moon" of their mother's life. To safeguard this "moon," it is every mother's duty—alongside providing other necessities—to breastfeed her child as much as possible, ensuring the child does not lack anything essential for their well-being.
He added that in today's environment, characterized by pollution and adulterated products, breastfeeding is crucial; while exposure to such harmful elements should be minimized, breast milk equips the child with the ability to fight various severe diseases. On this occasion, BSF 99 Battalion Pharmacist G. Sarvan and BSF 99 Battalion nursing staff member Gambhir were present.
