BJP will not contest elections in alliance with Akalis
Chandigarh:- The state's politics has heated up after former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh advocated an alliance between BJP and Akali Dal. However, Punjab BJP has also distanced itself from this suggestion of Captain. Punjab BJP working president Ashwani Sharma clarified that Captain's comments are his personal views.
The party is capable of contesting elections alone in the state. He announced that BJP will contest elections alone on all 117 seats of the Vidhan Sabha and full preparations are being made for this.
Ashwani Sharma, while talking to reporters before the meeting regarding the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections, made sharp attacks on the 'AAP' government. He said that the law and order situation in the state is continuously deteriorating and drug smugglers are emboldened, which the government has failed to curb.
The government has failed to fulfill the promises made to farmers, laborers and women and to provide compensation to flood victims. On the issue of illegal mining, Ashwani Sharma said that illegal mining is going on on a large scale in Pathankot and Fazilka.
