BJP and Congress Openly Mocked Democracy in Rajya Sabha Elections Rajendra Sorkhi

Hansi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has stated that in the Rajya Sabha elections held in Haryana yesterday, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress Party appeared to openly mock the democratic process. The people of the state are astonished by the actions of both parties. In a press statement, the party's District President, Rajendra Sorkhi, asserted that it is a well-known fact that large-scale horse-trading of MLAs took place during the Rajya Sabha elections. Both parties have hurt the sentiments of crores of people in the state—an act for which they will be held accountable in the times to come.
He argued that cross-voting against one's own party's candidate in a Rajya Sabha election points directly to corruption. He has demanded a CBI inquiry into the entire matter and has called for the case to be referred to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Even more shocking is the fact that the ruling BJP—which constantly champions the principles of "no bribes, no favoritism" (Bina Kharchi, Bina Parchi)—has today had its true face exposed. The manner in which a game of political manipulation and "fixing" was played during the election makes it evident that numerous MLAs, along with their political patrons, were complicit in this entire scheme.
AAP District President Rajendra Sorkhi noted that MLAs who have been elected multiple times possess a thorough understanding of the electoral process; in this particular election, they were merely required to cast a simple vote. Yet, several votes were cast across party lines (cross-voting), and others were deliberately cast incorrectly to ensure they would be invalidated. The Aam Aadmi Party also expressed astonishment over reports that all Congress MLAs were taken away to the valleys of Himachal Pradesh, where they were reportedly given formal training on how to cast their votes.
These MLAs, who represent hundreds of thousands of people, played a highly cunning political game. Sorkhi asserted that all MLAs who have made a mockery of democracy should be expelled from the Congress Party, and the BJP, too, must be taught a fitting lesson in the upcoming assembly elections.
