Big success against drugs 3100 kg poppy husk recovered Three luxury vehicles seized

Ludhiana:- Amidst the growing network of drug smuggling in Punjab, Ludhiana Police has achieved a big success. The police team of Jamalpur police station has recovered a huge quantity of poppy husk from a truck and three other vehicles during a raid. The total weight of the seized drugs is said to be 3100 kg, which is worth about Rs 6 crore in the international market. However, the accused managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness before the police arrived.
According to the information received, the police party led by SI Dalvir Singh was checking the suspects near Jamalpur Chowk. During this, an informant informed that a white truck, on which ‘Gil Catch’ is written, is loaded with a large consignment of drugs. It was reported that the smugglers had parked the truck in a deserted area under Ladowal police station after supplying it in Jamalpur area.
The police raided the spot without wasting any time. On seeing the police, the smugglers abandoned the vehicles and fled. During the search, bags full of poppy husk were recovered from the truck. Apart from this, three more luxury vehicles - Mahindra Bolero, Isuzu and Mahindra Scorpio - were also seized from the spot, which were to be used for supplying small quantities of drugs in different parts of the city.
The recovery of such a large quantity of drugs indicates that a big inter-state gang is working behind it. Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said that the accused have been identified and they will soon be behind bars. The police is now investigating from where the drugs were brought and in which areas of Ludhiana they were to be supplied.
