Bhartiya Kisan Union Shaheed Bhagat Singh burnt effigies of Narendra Modi and Trump
Ambala, February 17:- On Tuesday, farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) staged a strong protest against the trade agreement between the central government and the US. The angry farmers raised slogans against the central government and US President Donald Trump outside the District Deputy Commissioner’s office and burnt effigies of both the leaders. Union officials alleged that this trade agreement with the US will be detrimental to the Indian agriculture and dairy sector.
They said that the influx of foreign products in the Indian market will make local farmers vulnerable and prevent them from getting fair prices for their produce. After the protest, a delegation of farmers submitted a memorandum addressed to the District Deputy Commissioner to the President, demanding that the government refrain from signing any agreement that will harm the interests of the country’s food grain producers.
BKU leaders warned that if the demands of the farmers are ignored, they will be forced to intensify their agitation. A large number of police force was deployed during the protest.
The district president of the union said that today they have submitted three memorandums. One memorandum is that crops are being destroyed in 25-30 forts in Mandaur village due to waterlogging. The union has demanded the drainage of water. The second memorandum is about the deal that Narendra Modi has made with America. The president said that this deal will destroy the Indian market. Farmers, laborers, small traders, mill owners will all be harmed. Indian agriculture will be destroyed.
The third issue is that of Gurdwara Panjokhra Sahib, which has arisen due to the ring road. They have demanded that water drainage be arranged on the slip road for the entry to the Gurdwara. The president said that they are not interested in burning the effigy. The government is not listening to us, we are forced to burn the effigy.
