Beware of fake social media profiles verify before sending money SP Hansi

Hansi: Under the able guidance of Hansi Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinod Kumar, the Hansi Police are continuously raising public awareness about cybercrimes. As part of this initiative, citizens are being advised to remain vigilant against the rising incidence of fraud involving fake social media profiles.
SP Vinod Kumar explained that cyber fraudsters create fake profiles using the names of your friends, relatives, or acquaintances on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and others, and then solicit money by citing emergency situations. Often, people—swayed by emotions—send money without verification and fall victim to cyber fraud.
He appealed to the public that if they receive a message via social media asking for money in the name of an acquaintance, they must verify the request by contacting the person directly on their genuine mobile number before transferring any funds. Do not engage in any financial transactions based solely on social media profiles, messages, or chats.
The SP urged citizens not to share their bank account details, ATM cards, OTPs, CVVs, user IDs, passwords, or other personal and banking information with anyone. He emphasized the importance of scrutinizing any suspicious profiles, links, or messages.
He stated that awareness and vigilance are the most effective measures for protection against cybercrimes. If someone falls victim to cyber fraud, they should immediately call the national cyber helpline number 1930 or register a complaint on the cybercrime portal so that timely action can be taken.
