Battle continues to save fouryearold boy who fell into borewell

Ambala, June 30:- While playing in Dhaniora village of Ambala this morning, Gurpreet Singh's four-year-old son Nirbhay Singh fell into a 220-feet deep borewell. It is being told that he had gone to the field with his father, uncle and cousin at around 7:30 am. He was playing in the field of his uncle Harnek Singh when suddenly his foot slipped and he fell into a deep borewell of an open tubewell.
It is being told that the family members were present nearby at the time of the accident. As soon as the child fell into the borewell, there was a scream. Without wasting any time, the family members immediately informed the village sarpanch who further informed the district administration. As soon as the information was received, the administrative staff and the relief and rescue team reached the spot. The Deputy Commissioner took over the responsibility of the rescue mission.
The Dial 112 team reached the spot first at 9:30 in the morning. After that, the ambulance, fire brigade, police, Ambala Cantt SDM Kanika Agarwal, NDRF team, district administration officials, team of doctors, several JCB machines, Army team reached the spot and the NDRF team got involved in taking the child out of the borewell safely. Cameras were installed in the borewell and immediate arrangements were made to provide oxygen to the child. An attempt was made to take the child out with the help of a rope. Several techniques have been used in the last 10 hours to save the child.
On the other hand, the child's grandfather is in a bad condition due to crying while the father has fainted several times. The intermittent rain and the leaking water are making the rescue work difficult. A tent has been put up over the borewell to protect it from the rain while the light has reduced due to the leaking water in the borewell.
The condition and movements of the child are being continuously monitored by installing a camera inside the borewell, although communication with the child has not been established yet. The camera shows one of the child's hands. The current strategy is to tie a rope securely to that hand and then pull it upwards. The rescue team is currently working on this technique. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomar said that if the technical means are not successful in saving the child using the rope, then the administration has prepared a backup plan. A big borewell machine is being ordered for this purpose. This machine was currently engaged in some work near the Yamuna bridge. This machine is being brought here soon so that parallel digging work can also be started. He said that the way the NDRF is working has made a lot of progress. He is confident that they will extract the child.
