Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman dropped from KKR
New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders have dropped Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the team. Amidst violence against minority Hindus in Bangladesh, there was a demand for his removal from the team. Following this, the BCCI directed Shah Rukh Khan's IPL team, KKR, to remove Mustafizur Rahman, after which this decision was taken.
KKR tweeted, "Following the directions of BCCI, after following all necessary procedures and mutual consultations, Mustafizur has been released from the team. As per IPL rules, BCCI has allowed KKR to get a replacement player. More details will be shared in due course."
Earlier, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said this morning, "In view of the recent developments, the board has directed KKR to release Mustafizur. If the franchise requests a replacement player, they will be granted permission."
Rahman's participation in the IPL is being opposed amid ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, where four Hindus have been killed in the last 14 days. IPL 2026 will begin on March 26, with the league final on May 31.
