Nawanshahr:- Exercising the powers vested under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, District Magistrate Gulpreet Singh Aulakh has issued an order banning licensed weapon holders from carrying their weapons within the limits of Municipal Council Nawanshahr, Municipal Council Banga, and Municipal Council Rahon. 
This measure has been taken to ensure the peaceful conduct of the upcoming Municipal Council elections in Nawanshahr, Banga, and Rahon scheduled for May 26, 2026, and to maintain law and order. This order will not apply to army personnel, paramilitary forces, police personnel in uniform, and individuals who are traditionally or religiously authorized to carry weapons due to customs. 
Furthermore, it will not be applicable to banks, security guards deployed at banks, and persons who have already been provided security cover by the Government of India or the Government of Punjab. This order will remain in force until the completion of the said election process.
