SAS Nagar, October 23- Constituency MLA Shri Kulwant Singh, while welcoming the notification issued by the Punjab Government's Local Government for expanding the Municipal Corporation boundaries, said that by doing so, the government has paved the way for the all-round development of the areas outside the city corporation.
On the question of not including village Balongi and Bar Majra in the corporation, he said that this has been done to save the residents of these areas from the burden of property tax, because if they were included in the Municipal Corporation, a heavy burden of property tax would fall on the villagers. 
He said that even before this, several villages included in the corporation (including Sohana) have been opposing their inclusion in the corporation and demanding that property tax not be imposed.
He said that work is underway on the government's proposal to exempt villages from property tax, and after the decision to grant relief to villages from tax, a new notification will be brought to include these areas in the Municipal Corporation.
