Awareness walkathon organized in Hoshiarpur on World AIDS Day

Hoshiarpur:- On the occasion of World AIDS Day, the District De-Drug and Rehabilitation Society organized an awareness walkathon from Government Smart Senior Secondary School (Co-education) Ghanta Ghar to the bus stand. The program was inaugurated by MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa by flagging off. Students, teachers, social workers and common citizens participated enthusiastically in the walkathon.
Earlier, an AIDS awareness seminar was organized at Government School Ghanta Ghar. Experts shared information about HIV/AIDS and discussed in detail about prevention measures. On this occasion, MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa said that it is very important to spread awareness in the society about a serious disease like AIDS. He said that prevention of this disease is possible only by providing correct information and education to the youth.
He appreciated the efforts of the District Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Society and said that such programs play an important role in making the society healthy and aware. MLA Jimpa said that only the government and the society can face this challenge together. He appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle. He also called on teachers and parents to take responsibility so that the new generation can be safe and aware.
He said that awareness is the biggest weapon that can save the society from diseases like AIDS. In the program, the center's psychologist Dr. Simran Saini, psychologist, Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur also addressed the program and emphasized on dispelling myths related to AIDS. He said that correct information and sensitivity are the biggest tools to fight this disease.
