Awareness seminar on eye donation organized at HIMT College

Hoshiarpur- A special seminar was organized today at HIMT College, Tanda to make students aware about eye donation. The chief guest of this seminar was *Bhai Barinder Singh Masiti*, Tanda in-charge of Eye Donation Association Hoshiarpur and State Awardee.
On this occasion, Bhai Masiti while addressing the students said that *Eye donation is a great gift*, which proves to be a boon for the visually impaired. He said that eye donation not only brings light into someone’s life, but also gives spiritual satisfaction to the donor. He mentioned that continuous efforts are being made by the Punjab Government and Eye Donation Association Hoshiarpur to eliminate blindness.
He informed the students that the eyes of a deceased person can be donated *within five to six hours of death*, and a person of all ages can donate eyes. Only the eyes of people suffering from AIDS, jaundice, blood cancer and encephalitis cannot be donated.
On this occasion, the college chairman Rohit Tandon thanked the guests and said that such seminars instill a sense of social responsibility in the students. He said that the college will continue to organize awareness programs on such social issues.
In the seminar, the students asked questions about eye donation and were given detailed information. At the end, the oath of eye donation was also administered.
