Awareness seminar on drugs and traffic rules organized in Kurali

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, April 19:- As per the guidelines given by Mr. Harmandeep Singh Hans, Senior Superintendent of Police, District SAS Nagar and Mr. Navneet Singh Mahal, Superintendent of Police Traffic under the campaign being run against drugs, Sardar Karnail Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic, organized an awareness seminar at Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Kurali (Tehsil Kharar, District SAS Nagar).
During the seminar, Sardar Karnail Singh appealed that the participation of every citizen is very important under the “War on Drugs” campaign by the Punjab Government. He said that if anyone gets information about drug trafficking or drug abuse, they can immediately inform on WhatsApp number 9779100200 or contact the police helpline 112 or the nearest police station, so that immediate action can be taken against drug traffickers and drug addicts can be treated. He also made people aware about the terrible harms of drugs.
He also stressed the importance of following traffic rules and said that reckless driving causes loss of life and property. He said that if children below the age of 18 drive a vehicle, the parents can be imprisoned for up to 3 years and a fine of up to Rs 25,000. Apart from this, the person who gives the vehicle to the minor can also be punished in a similar manner.
On this occasion, the vehicle drivers were also made aware about the government’s “Good Samaritan” scheme. It was told that under the “Farishte Scheme” a reward of Rs. 2000 is given to the person who helps an injured person in a road accident.
Sardar Karnail Singh motivated the students to join sports and appealed to them to also make their family members aware to stay away from drugs, not to drive after drinking alcohol and to avoid speeding.
On this occasion, the Principal of the school Sardar Karamjit Singh, Traffic Incharge ASI Jagat Singh, ASI Yaspal Singh, ASI Davinder Singh, Havildar Davinder Singh and other staff of the school were present.
