Awareness Regarding Fire Safety is Essential Lakhanpal

Una, April 16: Hitesh Lakhanpal, Commandant of the 12th Battalion (Una) of the Home Guards, Civil Defence, and Fire Services, stated that awareness regarding fire safety is absolutely essential for a safe society. He informed that, as in previous years, Fire Services Week is being observed this year from April 14 to April 20. This year's theme has been designated as "Safe Schools, Safe Hospitals, and a Fire-Aware Society – Together for Fire Prevention."
He noted that throughout the week, rallies, mock drills, awareness camps, and special programs are being organized in educational institutions to sensitize the public about fire safety. The objective of these initiatives is to educate people about the necessary precautions and measures required to prevent fire incidents.
Appealing to the citizens, Lakhanpal urged them to ensure strict adherence to fire safety standards in their homes, offices, and public spaces. He advised them to use electrical appliances with caution and to pay special attention to the safe storage of gas cylinders and flammable materials. Furthermore, he instructed them to immediately notify the Fire Services in the event of any emergency.
He added that this week is also dedicated to those brave fire personnel who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties. Paying tribute to their courage and dedication, he called upon all citizens to embrace the message of "Stay Alert, Stay Safe" and to cooperate in the prevention of fire accidents.
