Awareness program organized on promoting sustainable safe and scientific agricultural practices
Patiala:- Aiming to strengthen collaboration between agrochemical industry and its dealer network to promote sustainable, safe and scientific agricultural practices, agrochemical industry NGO Agro Chemical Federation of India (ACFI) organized an awareness and interaction program for agricultural experts, dealers and distributors in Patiala on Wednesday.
On this occasion, agricultural experts discussed issues related to responsible product use, need for awareness among farmers, joint monitoring initiatives of industry and distributors, and safe agricultural practices amid changing regulatory norms. He pledged to play a more effective role in promoting safe, scientific and responsible use of agrochemicals while supporting Indian agriculture and the welfare of farmers.
Speaking during the program, the chief agricultural officer of the Department of Agriculture, Patiala Dr. Dara Singh said the government welcomes the industry's efforts to encourage greater awareness on the safe and judicious use of crop protection products in line with sustainable agricultural practices.
He also stressed that capacity building of dealers and distributors is essential, as they are often the first source of technical guidance for farmers. By promoting responsible consultation, preventing counterfeit products and encouraging compliance with regulatory guidelines, such initiatives contribute to better farming outcomes while protecting human health and the environment, he said.
ACFI Director General Kalyan Goswami said the event focused on building farmers' confidence through responsible advisory practices, removing misconceptions/misinformation related to pesticide use, strengthening coordination between industry and distribution networks and improving farmer education at the ground level.
Goswami stressed that strong collaboration has become critical to support long-term agricultural sustainability, raise awareness on safe use practices and strengthen compliance with emerging regulatory frameworks.
