Awareness camps organized as part of the War Against Drugs campaign
Una, November 7 - As part of the "War Against Drugs" campaign, awareness camps were organized today at Government Senior Secondary School, Tikka, and Government Senior Secondary School, Basal, under the chairmanship of District Child Protection Officer, Kamaldeep Singh.
In these camps, students were provided detailed information about the ill effects of drug abuse, sexual crimes against children, and laws related to child protection. A quiz program was also organized on this occasion, in which students participated enthusiastically. A total of 695 participants participated in the program.
During the camp, children were provided information regarding the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act), the Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act), child trafficking, child labor, child marriage, and cyber crimes.
Besides, detailed information was also given about the facilities available for orphan children aged 0 to 18 years under the Mission Vatsalya Yojana, assistance schemes for orphan youth aged 18 to 27 years under the Chief Minister Sukh Ashray Yojana, 2023, Chief Minister Sukh Shiksha Yojana and Samarthya Yojana.
Kamaldeep Singh urged the children and teachers to disseminate this information to every person in the society so that more and more people can become aware of these important schemes and laws.
Principal of Government Senior Secondary School Tikka, Varinder Kapila, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School Basal, Kavita Sandhu, school staff and members of the team of District Child Protection Unit Una were present in these camps.
