Awareness campaign organized to prevent kidney disease

Bathinda: On the eve of World Kidney Day, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Bathinda, organized an awareness campaign to highlight the importance of early detection and prevention of kidney diseases. Given the increasing incidence of kidney disorders due to lifestyle changes, diabetes, and high blood pressure, medical experts stressed the need for timely screening and preventive care.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Aseem Singla, Nephrology and Transplant Physician at Max, said, “Kidney diseases often develop silently, and many patients remain unaware of the condition until it reaches a serious stage. Regular health checkups, blood pressure monitoring, and simple blood and urine tests can help detect kidney problems early and prevent serious complications. Symptoms such as swelling in the legs, changes in urination, persistent fatigue, nausea, or uncontrolled blood pressure should not be ignored, and timely consultation with a nephrologist is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment.” Dr. Singla further explained, “Diabetes and high blood pressure are among the leading causes of kidney failure. People suffering from these diseases should regularly monitor their kidney function and follow their doctor's advice to reduce the risk of long-term damage.
People should adopt a healthy lifestyle, such as eating a balanced diet, reducing salt intake, drinking adequate water, exercising regularly, and avoiding unnecessary use of painkillers, which can harm kidney health.”
